Chinese Culture and Chinese Character
汉字又是汉文化的特殊部分，它不仅是一种文化现象，而且还是承载和传播文化的工具，是大量的文化信息的载体,是汉民族为了、传递和保存信息，在漫长的时间里不断创造出来的书写汉语的符号系统。许多汉字的结构显示了中国先民的生活和意识，反映汉民族的价值观念、生存方式、思维特点、风俗习惯等。与此同时，汉字又推动了汉文化的发展，包括产生和发展了书法、篆刻等艺术。
Chinese character is a particular part of Chinese culture, it is not only a cultural phenomenon, invested with a nation’s culture, but also is a channel for cultural communication,which carries a lot of Cultural information.Chinese character is the Chinese writing system which created by Han nationality in a long period time for exchanging thoughts、delivering and saving information . Lots of the structures of Chinese character express the life and awareness of the Chinese ancestors; reflect the values of Han nationality, the way of living, and the way of thinking, social customs and habits etc. Meanwhile, Chinese character promotes the development of Chinese culture, such as the art of calligraphy and seal cutting and so on.

The Importance of Learning Chinese Character
从汉字和汉语及汉文化的关系我们可以看出汉字存在的重要意义，从学习本身来说，学习汉字也是重要且必要的。
We definitely can see how important Chinese character is from its relationship with Chinese language and culture. From the aspect of study itself, learning Chinese character is not only important but also necessary.

听说读写是学习一门语言重要的四项基本技能。如果听说很好，而其它两部分缺乏，也会成为提高该语言水平的瓶颈，所以，如果学习汉语而不学汉字，读和写不能得到真正的练习，最终也不能把汉语真正学好。
Listening, speaking, reading and writing are the four major skills in learning any languages. If only listening and speaking are mastered, lack of the other two skills will become the bottleneck for further improvement in the language acquisition. Without knowing Chinese characters, it is impossible to practice reading, not to mention writing and eventually it is impossible to improve general Chinese to a higher level.

在中国，有很多不同的方言。各方言的发音并不一样，你可能发现在中国一些地区或者一些情况下无法交流，但是，不管你说什么方言，在中国书写体系是一样的，都是用汉字书写，所以如果你会读写汉字，也会对你很有帮助。
In China, there are different dialects. The pronunciation of the same word may differ from region to region. You may find yourself not be able to communicate in certain circumstances. However, the written language is the same in the majority areas in China. So, if you know the Chinese written language, you will find it useful.

当你学习汉语到达一定的水平，你会发现拼音会让你更加困惑。一个相同的拼音音节可以有很多不同的汉字表达，如果你在学习发音的同时也学习汉字，你会发现学起来越来越简单，越来与越清晰。
Once you reach a certain level, Pinyin actually becomes confusing. Each Pinyin syllable represents several different characters with different meaning. However, if you learn the characters as your basic unit of knowledge and learn its pronunciation accordingly, you will find it is more clear and easier to learn.
